The Cause of the Climate Change
Now the problem of global warming is getting more serious. Not only the temperature in many places in the world is rising, a lot of species are dying and small islands are facing the danger of being drown. These are due to the rapid climate change in recent years. The danger and the causes of climate change cannot be overlooked.
Climate change has brought as a lot of potential danger. Human activities like the pollution produced from the vehicle in the world. These vehicles are producing a lot of pollution that is harmful to the climate. Every year, a lot of factories are producing more cars in order to reap more profits. So, these newly produced vehicles are producing more polluted elements in the air right now, which seriously harms the environment.
According to the article Climate Change Could Be Devastating and People Must Adapt to Survive published in Adaptation and Climate Change, it is mentioned that “warmer conditions have melted sea ice 20% from nineteen seventy nine to two thousand and six”. (n. a. 2) in fact, what is more important is that more than three trillions “tons of the ice from glaciers and ice caps around the world” had been melted. (n. a. 2) However, now the issue is more than about ice cap melting because a lot of places have already suffered from the bad consequences of climate change. For example, it is mentioned that in places like Caribbean and the South Pacific, “Warmer seas have caused coral bleaching and extensive death of coral reef.” (n. a. 2) In fact, these are mostly caused by human being’s activities. For example, polluted waste water from the factory are poured down the river, which causing a lot of them to be undrinkable. Also, “a substantial fraction of the carbon dioxide that had been emitted from human activities accumulates in the atmosphere, where some of it will remain not just for decades or centuries.” (n. a. 6)
Human activities are the main causes of the climate change. Another problem is that a lot of factories do not care about polluting the enviornment at all. For them, they simply focus on making profits and in order to save the cost, they poured polluted water in the rivers. Just as the journal Royal Society has shown, climate change can be the defining problem in the twenty first century. However, the evidence has shown that it is not because of the evolution of our nature. Instead, “most problems that we are facing right now is the result of human activities”. (n. a. 1) For example, human beings are cutting down more forest in order to build up their industry. In addition, the machines built up by human beings are also producing a lot of harmful CO2. All the other “climate related changes” such as the rising of sea levels and the warmed oceans and lakes are caused by human activities. In fact, “continued emissions of these gases will cause further climate change, including substantial increases in global average surface temperature and important changes in regional climate”. (n. a. 3)
Another cause of climate change is that human beings are cutting down more trees which are the sources that protect our environment well. According to the Royal Society’s study, because of the burning of human being’s buried fossil fuels and their constant burning of other natural resources, they are now releasing a lot more carbon dioxide in the environment and the atmosphere. In this way, all these activities “have significantly disturbed the natural carbon cycle”. (n, a, 1) It is obvious that this problem was not mentioned in the recent years, since about several decades ago or even a century ago, while the developed countries started the process of thiier industrialization by building up facotires, cutting down trees in the forests, pouring down polluted water with chemical down the river, the scholars and scientists who studied the climate have already warned human beings against this issue. However, because human beings were more fixiated in making money and building up their cities to be more modernized, they chose to ignore the problem and now they need to suffer from the bad consequence.
It is necessary to have stricter laws to control these human business activities because these are what makes the climate change get more serious. In another study called Climate Change Mitigation Is More Important than Adaptation, it is said that sea level has risen up about “eighty to two hundred and fifty feet at a rate of 6 inches a decade or more.” (n. a, 4) Besides, there is also the problem that many parts of our earth had been deserted. Half of the planet has also been dried and many of the glaciers have been lost. (n, a, 4) To do that, the government can think of better policies to punish those who do not obey the rules. For example, they should be heavily fined. Besides, if they insist on polluting the environment, their factories shall be shut off. Also, tax payer’s money should be better utilized in building the environmental programs.
To conclude, climate change is one of the most defining problem in our age. Climate change will lead to and had led to a lot of bad consequences. A large number of glaciers from the ice cap had melted and many of the islands are facing the danger of being drowned. What’s more, more and more types of animals are now going extinct and many of them from the north pole found it too warm to survive. All of these had happened because of the inproper human activities such as cutting down trees in the forest, producing too much caron dixiocide from the manchines made by human beings. In order to make sure the problem of climate change will not go worse, it is important for human beings to have stricters rules on human activities.
